Stressed people have lots of thoughts, and many of them are scary or disturbing.

This makes people want to push away a thought, but our minds don’t work this way.

The only way to know whether you’ve pushed away a thought is to check in your mind whether the idea is there or not and, in an eye blink, it’s back.

It’s easier to accept a problematic thought when you receive it on your terms.

For example:

  • You can sing the thought to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, or Three Blind Mice.
  • You can draw or paint the thought or make a poem of it.
  • You can translate the thought into another language or say it in the voice of a cartoon character, such as Donald Duck or Sponge Bob Square Pants.
  • You can see the words backward or mix up the words of the thought.

The funnier, the better!
