Jonathan Barkin, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 25516), partner at the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. In 2010-2012 Dr. Barkin worked at the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center for OCD and Anxiety providing intensive treatment for pervasive anxiety presentations. Following his post-doctoral training, he developed an individualized intensive treatment program treating severe anxiety disorders.
Dr. Barkin is a contributing member to the cognitive-behavior therapy community, both providing training and consultation to other clinicians and staying current on advancements in treatment. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Barkin provides supervision on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for kids, teens, and adults. He has previously conducted supervision as part of a clinical research trial treating anxiety and depression. The research focused on increasing the effectiveness of CBT through data evaluation.
Dr. Barkin treats children, teens, and adults. With children and teens, he treats anxiety disorders, mood disorders, attention/concentration problems, oppositional behavior, social skills deficits, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and adjustment struggles. With adults, Dr. Barkin has particular expertise treating anxiety disorders (including OCD, panic, and PTSD), mood disorders, and adjustment to transitions.
